NEW MONTEREY, Calif. — October 28, 2026. New Monterey has several distinct neighborhood improvement issues worth tracking as the City of Monterey reviews its annual NCIP priorities, including pedestrian access, drainage, shoreline heritage and neighborhood facilities.

Projects named in the city record

The city’s January 21, 2026 NCIP committee packet identified a Shoreline Park historic fish hopper restoration (ncp2444, $60,000), a David Avenue/Terry Street crosswalk and island proposal (ncp2524, $299,401), a 600-block Lobos Street drainline improvement (ncp2531, $100,000), and Lower Presidio walkway Phase II (ncp2533, $78,000). Another entry concerned proposed restoration of Cannery Row workers’ housing.

These values were available budget balances in the January review. They are not a construction cost estimate for newly approved October works, and this list alone does not establish that the City Council subsequently continued, canceled, modified or finished any individual project.

Where to look for updated decisions

New Monterey residents can consult the City’s NCIP committee agendas. The published calendar lists a second review of nominated projects for October 28, 6 p.m. and a voting night on November 18. The current agenda should be read separately from the January archive before concluding what is up for a vote.
